Volunteer with Us

Make a real difference to those experiencing homelessness

I was homeless myself in the past. I didn’t use Street Storage but it gives me a sense of purpose every day that I’m helping other people who have been in the same position as me.
— Chris, Street Storage Volunteer

Volunteer Opportunity!

What do we need? Street Storage is looking for someone who can play a vital role in the safe storage of people's most prized possessions and be part of a team who aims to create a warm, welcoming safe space for people who store with us.

Duties would consist of getting people's bags and cases to and from our storage unit when they drop in for belongings as well as greeting people, offering refreshments and generally being on hand for staff and people using Street Storage alike.

So a people person with a bit of muscle would be perfect!

When? Mondays weekly, 10am-4pm

How do I contact you to get involved? Please contact caroline.allouf@streetstorage.org if you are interested in this opportunity.

Our Volunteers

From Drivers (see Laura here with the ZipVan), Onsite Unit Volunteers (see Francesca and Geordie, centre), to business mentors/pro bono advisors (Guy sitting in the fancy chair!) and Fundraising Volunteers (Berenice wonderfully modelling LUSH products in 2023), Street Storage is supported by some rockstars.

As we continue to grow we will be looking to expand our network of volunteers in both onsite and offsite roles…so watch this space!

Volunteer Bio - Geordie

Geordie joined Street Storage as a volunteer after using the service while he was on the street. Already in just a year, Geordie has fundraised for us both through challenge events and art sales as well as taking the title of Street Storage’s Artist in Residence! At the units, Geordie assists with the physical handling of people’s luggage, shelving and donations.

He said about his volunteering: “I was on the street last year (2022). They helped me get back on my feet, then I have been here helping out and doing my art work. They are like a family here.”
