First of its kind

Rachel Johnson

Trustee

Rachel leads on Phoenix Court's foundation, Phoenix Court Works. She focuses on developing partnerships in Somers Town, Camden and New Palo Alto, investing in the areas of health & wellbeing, education & inclusion, and climate & environment.

She joined the team there initially as General Manager of Phoenix Court when it was still a building site, and went on to oversee its launch, running a programme of over 100 events in the venue’s first 12 months. During her time, Rachel has developed deep relationships with many Somers Town neighbours, and takes the time to understand how Phoenix Court can most effectively partner with local organisations. She was involved in the Phoenix Court Works Foundation from the beginning, when it made its first grant, and has since helped to oversee investment in tens of organisations.

QUOTE: β€œAt Phoenix Court, we’re always excited to meet founders with innovative solutions to solving problems and Street Storage embodies that perfectly. I first met Rachel at an event and was immediately inspired by her energy, resilience, and the vision she has brought to life. What they’ve created at Street Storage is not just an incredible space for their team but also a vital resource for the community they support. I feel deeply grateful for the opportunity to work with them, both as a neighbour and as a Trustee”.

Previously, Rachel worked in hospitality. She was Head of Events and CafΓ© Manager at Good & Proper Tea, a speciality tea supplier based in London, and launched their first cafe, as well as organising and managing pop-up events at festivals and street food markets around the UK. Rachel has a Foundation degree in Art and Design, and a BA in Graphic Design from Loughborough University. She recently completed a course at LSE on Social Entrepreneurship, which she hopes will help her further support the social entrepreneurs we partner with through Phoenix Court Works.
